They Just Might Be On To Something…

As of June 17, 2010,  18,600 barrels of oil were leaking from BP’s disastrous Deepwater Horizon disaster/Macondo blowout in the Gulf of Mexico yesterday, a 78%  increase from the previous day and the most since the oil well spill began April 20, 2010.

I feel sick to my stomach, I think the oil spill has done this to me, I live in Houston.  So far the oil has not come here, but on June 6, 2010 it was reported that dead birds had washed onto the eastern Texas shoreline.

First off, the “fail-safe” blowout preventer valves did not work.  Never, ever call something “fail-safe”.

Using remotely operated submarines to trigger the switches to close the blowout preventer valves did not work.

The stupid box idea did not work.

The even more ridiculously stupid and smaller box idea did not work.

The topkill (sounds like a weed killer) idea didn’t work.

Trashing the ocean more by attempting to stuff  with Tiger Woods’ used golf balls and old tires did not work.

The Lower Marine Riser Package (LMRP) Cap Containment System did not work, because the fancy diamond saw got stuck and had to be freed using shears, thus rendering the pipe ragged and meaning the cap will be harder to fit. Why is this starting to sound like the movie “Armageddon”?
